What robofab.ai is for

Robofab reads two ways and both land in the same industry. Read it as robots that fabricate and you have a company building robotic arms for welding, additive manufacturing, construction, or automated assembly. Read it as a fab that builds robots— fab being the semiconductor industry’s word for a fabrication plant — and you have a contract manufacturer or a robotics production line. Ambiguity in a name is usually a liability. Here it is not, because the two readings describe adjacent businesses that frequently turn out to be the same business once it scales.

Why the .ai suffix earns its place

Robotic fabrication is where learned control has displaced hand-written motion planning fastest. A weld-seam tracker or a pick-and-place cell that adapts to part variation is running inference, not replaying a fixed path. The suffix tells a technical buyer and an investor what is inside the machine before they read a line of the pitch, which is work a .com does not do for you.

What it is not good for

Fab is industrial vocabulary. It signals hardware, floor space, and tooling. This is a poor name for pure software, for a consulting or services business, and for consumer robotics of any kind. If your product never touches a factory, the name will write a check the company cannot cash — and the buyers most likely to recognize the name are exactly the ones who will notice.
